  1. Environmental Monitoring: Conducting water quality assessments, tracking cyanobacteria blooms, and monitoring fish habitats.
  2. Riparian Restoration: Participating in physical restoration work like tree planting, willow staking, and bank restoration.
  3. Fish Passage Assessment: Identifying barriers to fish passage and contributing to fish habitat restoration projects.
  4. Community Outreach: Engaging with the public through workshops, planting events, school programs, and community clean-ups.

The Belleisle Watershed Coalition (BWC) is a multi-stakeholder charitable environmental organization established in 2013 to support scientific research, aquatic restoration, and environmental education within the Belleisle watershed and lower St. John River. Our projects focus on water quality, environmental monitoring, fish and aquatic habitats, riparian assessment/enhancement/management, and community outreach.

The Belleisle Watershed Coalition is looking for a motivated candidate to fill a seasonal Environmental Camp Coordinator position. The coordinator will plan, lead, and implement the BWC’s outreach and camp programs. The coordinator will liaise with the Boys and Girls Club Site Coordinator and staff to deliver the summer camp program. The coordinator will also assist with teaching the camp curriculum and supervising campers. They will also be tasked with maintaining a schedule and program records, camp equipment, and office tasks including data entry, report writing, and assisting with community events.

Qualifications:

  • Available to work in the Valley Waters area full-time.
  • enrolled/completed a university degree/technical college diploma in the education and/or environmental field.
  • Exceptional written, technical reporting and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, and social media tools.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work with children and the public for long periods.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships in a team environment.
  • Enjoys working outdoors, in all weather conditions as up to 90% of the work is field and classroom based.
  • Experience with and comfortable working around/in the water.
  • Class 5 New Brunswick Driver’s License.
  • Own personal transportation to Belleisle and field sites.

Compensation:

This is a full-time seasonal position with a wage of $16.50/hour. A standard work week is Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30 (37.5 hours per week), with occasional evenings and weekends as events arise. Positions starting in early June.Coordinator
